Bermagui Amalgamation: Bermagui Country Club Secures Its Future with Member Support

Thanks to your strong support, Bermagui Country Club’s future is now secure. On Monday 12 August, Queanbeyan Sports & Community Club (QSCC), also known as Campbell & George members voted unanimously in favour of amalgamating with Bermagui Country Club, following Bermagui Country Club’s own resounding “yes” vote just days earlier.

This unanimous vote is another significant milestone in our shared journey and is a testament to the unity and shared vision between our clubs. Without the amalgamation, Bermagui would have faced the difficult reality of closing its doors, leaving the community without one of its most important sporting, social and community hubs.

On Wednesday 7 August, 359 Bermagui members attended their Special General Meeting to vote on two key motions: to agree to the Memorandum of Understanding with QSCC and to transfer the club’s land, buildings and water rights as part of the process. All but 359 members voted in favour, a clear sign of the importance of securing the club’s future.

What happens next?

• Completing the required administrative processes

Once these steps are complete, the amalgamation will be officially final.

QSCC President Ray Sweeny said the result was a proud moment for both clubs. “It is great to be part of something that really matters to a community. This amalgamation means Bermagui Country Club will not only stay open but will have the chance to grow, improve and welcome even more people through its doors,” Mr Sweeny said.

This decision opens the door to new opportunities for Bermagui Country Club, from facility upgrades to stronger community programs and expanded member benefits across the QSCC network.
