Proudly supporting local through the NSW ClubGRANTS program

A strong community is built on people looking out for one another, and across Queanbeyan, local organisations are doing exactly that every day. They are supporting families through challenging diagnoses, helping people put food on the table, creating safer support for people living with disability, and standing alongside veterans and their families. 

This year, Campbell & George is proud to contribute $34,451 through the NSW ClubGRANTS program, supporting four local organisations delivering important programs and services across Queanbeyan. 

Each organisation responds to a different need, but together they show just how many forms community support can take. 

Better support for people living with epilepsy 

For people living with epilepsy, having knowledgeable and confident support around them can make an important difference to their safety, independence and everyday life. Around 635 people are estimated to be living with epilepsy in Queanbeyan, including people who rely on disability support services in their everyday lives. 

Through this year’s ClubGRANTS funding, Epilepsy Action Australia will bring its SAFE Supports – Seizure Awareness for Equity program to Queanbeyan, providing local disability organisations with free epilepsy education, specialised training, practical resources, and access to an Epilepsy Specialist Nurse. 

For the people Epilepsy Action Australia supports, it means having more informed care around them, with support workers better equipped to understand and respond to their individual needs.

Supporting Children and Families from the Start 

When a child is diagnosed with hearing loss, having the right support early can make an important difference – not only for the child, but for the whole family navigating the journey alongside them. 

The Shepherd Centre specialises in early intervention for deaf and hard-of-hearing children, helping children develop communication skills while supporting parents with the knowledge and confidence to guide their development. 

This year, Campbell & George’s ClubGRANTS contribution will support two programs through the Shepherd Centre for families in the Queanbeyan community. 

The First Steps to First Sounds program provides early support following diagnosis, helping children develop listening and spoken-language skills while giving parents practical strategies they can use at home. 

Total contributed: $6,052. 

The Empowered Parents, Connected Kids program provides counselling and developmental coaching for parents of children aged 0–5, supporting families as they adjust to a diagnosis and prepare their children for the years ahead. 

Together, the programs help give children and their families a strong foundation to participate confidently in school, family and community life.

A Meal and a Helping Hand 

Sometimes community support begins with something as simple as knowing where your next meal is coming from. For people experiencing homelessness, housing insecurity or financial hardship, St Benedict’s Community Centre provides practical support when it is needed most. 

The Centre provides free hot meals four days a week and emergency food relief seven days a week across Queanbeyan and surrounding areas. Campbell & George’s funding will support its Food Services program, helping ensure nutritious food remains available free of charge to people experiencing hardship. 

Support offered by the Centre extends beyond the meal itself. People can also connect with housing assistance and other local services, providing a pathway to further help when they need it.

Standing Alongside Local Veterans and Their Families 

For veterans and their families, navigating life after service can bring challenges that are not always easy to face alone. The Queanbeyan Veteran and Family Hub provides a local place where veterans and their families can access support, connection, and practical guidance close to home. 

Campbell & George’s funding will support the Hub’s Veteran Support Services, including DVA claims advocacy, financial assistance, housing and homelessness support, and outreach to other local services. 

Over the next 12 months, the Hub expects to welcome more than 5,000 visits from veterans and family members and assist with more than 300 DVA claims. 

Having that support available locally can help veterans and families address financial hardship, housing instability, and social isolation before these challenges reach a crisis point.

Different Needs, One Community 

There is no single way to support a community. Sometimes it means giving a support worker the knowledge to respond confidently to a seizure. Sometimes it is helping parents navigate their child’s hearing loss, providing someone with a hot meal, or making sure a veteran has somewhere local to turn for help. 

Each looks different, but behind them is the same idea – making sure people across Queanbeyan can access support when and where they need it. 

Through the NSW ClubGRANTS program, Campbell & George is proud to contribute $34,451 in 2026, helping these organisations continue making a difference for people and families across Queanbeyan. 

What is ClubGRANTS? 

ClubGRANTS is one of NSW’s largest community funding programs, providing more than $100 million each year to community services, charities, sporting organisations and local initiatives. 

The program is a partnership between the NSW Government and registered clubs, helping reinvest a share of gaming machine profits into the communities in which clubs operate.
