For new parents, a hearing loss diagnosis can be incredibly overwhelming, but early access to support can change everything.

Essa is a cheeky and bubbly little boy, full of energy and excitement. Diagnosed with permanent hearing loss shortly after birth, Essa has been supported by The Shepherd Centre through its First Steps to First Sounds program. This wraparound care empowers his family with the tools and guidance they need to help Essa develop critical listening, language, and social skills.

With ongoing therapy and the encouragement of his family and clinical team, Essa is already making incredible progress and connecting more deeply with the world around him.
