Give where you live: supporting the local community

Proud to be supporting the local community

At Campbell & George, we believe true success is measured not just in business, but in how we support the people around us. That’s why we’re proud to have contributed $41,100 this year through the NSW ClubGRANTS program by investing directly into the wellbeing and spirit of the Queanbeyan community.

Every child deserves the chance to be heard

The Shepherd Centre is a not-for-profit NDIS provider that supports children with hearing loss through early intervention, helping them develop listening, speech and language skills, while also providing programs for parents and families.

The impact of The Shepherd Centre is felt throughout the community:

  • Children gain important developmental skills in their early years to gain the tools to fully participate in mainstream life.
  • Parents are supported to become effective advocates and facilitators of their child’s communication.
  • The Centre’s research-backed model influences broader best practice and policy in the hearing and disability sectors, creating avenues for advocacy and positive change.

Our support helps fund vital programs like First Steps to First Sound, Kidscape, Acoustic Connections, and Confident Kids, giving families hope and children the gift of connection.

Restoring dignity in times of crisis

For many in hardship, St Benedict’s Community Centre is the hand to hold when all others let go. Providing meals, crisis support, and pathways toward independence, St Benedict’s is a lifeline in our community. By providing holistic support, including advocacy, emotional support, practical help and referrals, the Centre bridges gaps.

Our funding ensures St Benedict’s Food Services program continues to serve those in need, offering not just food, but compassion, advocacy and a safe place to turn.

The terrific team at St Benedict’s also helps empower its consumers through mentoring, skill building and work experience, moving people toward self-reliance. St Benedict’s is also working towards systemic change through its advocacy for homeless issues, so every person has the opportunity for safety and security.

Queanbeyan Croquet Club

Since 1934, the Queanbeyan Croquet Club has brought people together to stay active, meet and connect with new people, and share joy in the simple game of croquet. We’re proud to support a club that continues to foster belonging and wellbeing in our town.

What is the ClubGRANTS scheme?

ClubGRANTS is one of NSW’s largest community funding programs, distributing over $100 million annually to local projects, services and infrastructure. Since its establishment in 1998, the scheme has distributed over $1 billion to not-for-profits, charities, sporting groups and community initiatives.

The program operates as a partnership between the NSW Government and registered clubs to reinvest a share of gaming machine profits back into the community. Clubs earning over $1 million in gaming profits each year must participate, and in return receive a tax rebate.

Funding is allocated in three categories, with Campbell & George contributing to the first two:

  • Category 1: frontline community services, such as welfare, health, youth programs, and employment support (minimum 0.75% of gaming machine profits).
  • Category 2: broader community development and engagement initiatives once Category 1 obligations have been met.

How does ClubGRANTS work in Queanbeyan?

Organisations apply online during grant rounds, with applications reviewed by the Queanbeyan-Palerang ClubGRANTS Committee. This year, the committee was chaired by a representative from the Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council.

On 2 July 2025, the Committee, along with registered Queanbeyan clubs, assessed eligibility and agreed on funding allocations and recommendations.

For the 24/25 year, Campbell & George contributed $41,400 in total:

Category 1 – $33,147 (0.806% of gaming machine profits):

  • The Shepherd Centre – First Steps to First Sound: $2,882
  • The Shepherd Centre – Kidscape: $4,215
  • The Shepherd Centre – Acoustic Connections: $5,628
  • The Shepherd Centre – Confident Kids: $8,430
  • St Benedict’s Community Centre Incorporated – Food Services: $12,000

Category 2 – $7,953:

  • Queanbeyan Croquet Club

A follow-up Committee meeting on 23 July 2025 confirmed all proposed registered club contributions, including Campbell & George’s, met program requirements.

NSW Liquor and Gaming assessed compliance, and Campbell & George received approval to proceed. Payments to the three organisations were finalised by 11 September 2025.
